FREE PREVIEW FOR GUIDE FOR OVERWEIGHT

You have chosen this subject whether it is your own weight you are concerned about, or the weight of someone else you care about. If it’s someone else’s weight, it would be a good idea for you to read this material first, then pass it on to that person.

A person’s weight, no matter how high or how low, is only an issue for that person if that person says so. For example, suppose you weigh 450 pounds, with resulting illnesses and disabilities. Everyone around you is deeply concerned. You may have decided either that there is nothing that you can do about it, or that there is nothing that you want to do about it. You could have decided to have everything continue exactly as it is. This could be true whether you have 5 pounds to lose or 500.

Nothing will change unless you want different results and are willing to make changes.

You may have tried lots of diets, medications, exercise, even surgery, with little or no help, certainly nothing lasting, and with lots of expense and inconvenience. You may be saying, “I’ve had it”. You could understandably be reluctant to believe in any method.

Suppose you decide to use The BEST System, presented in these pages, to get the weight results you want. BEST stands for Belief Enrichment and Substitution Training. You adopt beliefs that people have who are getting the results that you do not yet have, but want. You either add on those new beliefs to your existing beliefs on the subject, or you substitute them for your existing beliefs that you decide should be discarded as being ineffective in leading to the behaviors you must have to get the results you want. The good news is that The BEST System works, and other than the cost of these pages, there is no other financial cost. Well, that’s not exactly true. If you lose a lot of weight, you may have to buy some new smaller-size clothing.

If you have read the WELCOME to the PersonalProblemSolver.com (“PPS”) website, you know that the BEST way to change personal results involves making use of the fact that what we believe about a subject, determines what we do about that subject. If you believe the building you’re in is on fire, you stop what you’re doing and get out now! If you don’t believe it’s on fire, and you believe that you have no other reason to leave, you will stay in that building. Your behavior, whether you leave the building or not, is determined by your belief, whether or not the building is actually on fire. Change your belief, and your behavior will change; and then you’ll get different results.

To get and keep a more normal weight, you will need to believe the way people believe who have NEVER in their life had a weight problem. They have never been overweight. They can’t gain weight if they try. If anything, they tend to lose weight, especially if they are upset. Do you think you already believe as they do about food, eating, and weight? Not a chance, unless you are one of them, or are learning to be one of them.

Here’s the BEST strategy when it comes to reaching and keeping a normal weight:

First, we list the beliefs, on the subject of weight, eating, and food that are held by those who have an overweight problem or issue. You will surely find a number of beliefs on that list that match your own beliefs, many of them quite strongly held. We will describe the behavior that those beliefs lead to, and the results caused by that behavior.

Second, we list the beliefs, on the subject of weight, eating, and food, that are held by those who have never been overweight in their lives, who can’t gain weight if they try. You will not likely find a single belief on that list that you already hold. You will have certain predictable reactions to those beliefs. You will disagree with them. You will say, “Those beliefs may work for those people, or for other people, but not for me.” You will be scared by those beliefs.

You will need to get a grip, and stop to realize that there is a connection between what the life-time slim person believes about weight, eating, and food, that leads them to behave a certain way when it comes to eating and food. We will describe those behaviors, and show how they are linked to the specific beliefs. In turn, that way of behaving with eating and food has a very good effect on their weight. Why not copy them? Why not believe what they believe, do what they do, and get the results they get? What have you got to lose?
